June 10th 2011, the 69th anniversary of the Lidice Massacre. You'll need to turn your volume up.
I ran a few workshops with local children to produce poetry from different perspectives regarding the Lidice Massacre in 1942.
The organisers of the event asked me to produce a poem as well, and this is it, from the perspective of the miners of Stoke-on-Trent, who sacrificed a great deal so that Lidice could be rebuilt.
This is not just the name of this website, but my tribute to the wonderful Edward Lear.
It was filmed for me by Ash Morris at Staffs University, and includes the usual introduction as I would in a classroom setting.

We can be inspired by many things, even that which would normally raise our hackles, as I explain here with this poem.
